This is not a repair instruction video for the Zoom Nikkor 8.5 - 25 cm. The video is a tribute to the designers who created the first NIkon zoom for photography in 1959, and the second in the world.

This lens was in a very bad state, perhaps used as a hammer and thrown in a trash can. It is heavy, rudimentary, but now it has come back to life, still with its marks of time, but an eternal jewel. It took about 50 work hours.

In August 1959, Nippon Kogaku K.K. released this Auto NIKKOR Telephoto-Zoom 8.5-25cm f/4-4.5, with the first such lens purchased by a newspaper in December of the same year. The NIKKOR Zoom 8.5-25cm thus became the first ever telephoto zoom lens for still cameras.
